Quick, informed decision making
Efficient supply chain management

What is Marine Data Hub?

Exclusively developed for the shipping industry, Marine Data Hub (Hub) links stakeholders across the supply chain, driving efficiency across voyage communications and data sharing.

With a key focus on standardisation and best practice, Hub will promote sector-wide collaboration and data sharing confidence, as we work together to minimise delays, reduce costs and lower shipping’s carbon footprint.

Who is Hub for?

Empowering quick, informed decision-making, Hub connects the entire shipping industry, facilitating efficient and secure communication and data sharing across all supply chain collaborators, including but not limited to:

  • Ship operators
  • Charterers
  • Berth/Dock/Terminal operators
  • Inspectors
  • Classification Societies
  • Associate organisations (e.g. Maritime Authorities, MOUs, NGOs)
  • Flag States
  • Company executives and board members

How does Marine Data Hub work?

Supporting the many-to-many relationships required by today’s voyage planning and marine assurance operations, Marine Data Hub facilitates the structured and standardised collection and dissemination of industry data.

Applicable to all current reporting standards and with integration options into current ways of working, Hub provides a mechanism by which to streamline current data administration processes.

Applying an industry data standard, stakeholder interaction will be streamlined through expected methods of format, file type and means of distribution.

Data Ownership

Data available through Hub (e.g., documentation, certification and photos) remains the property of the participant uploaded by.

As the Data Owner, the user sets permissions for who can view and edit their data.

Data Share and Permissions

A Data Share will define who is permitted to view a piece of data.

A Data Share can be provided on a case-by-case basis, and can span either a single voyage, a time share (e.g. the data receiver can access the data for two weeks), a time period (e.g., the data receiver can access all Voyage Logs between two set dates) or on an a continuous basis (e.g., data receiver can access the Data Owners data on demand).

Reports and Data Requests

Hub Reports are flexible forms, allowing templates to be defined and distributed to facilitate data capture. Hub Reports enable questionnaire-style data to model particulars, inspections and self-assessments.

Hub Reports are issued and received through Hub for efficient data collection, decision-making and voyage planning progression.

Stakeholder Communications

A Hub Dialogue provides a communications channel between all involved stakeholders (data submitters, data receivers and third parties).

A Dialogue holds messages and requests for information, providing full visibility of voyage activities, communication and planning undertaken within Hub.

End-to-end Voyage Connectivity

As further stakeholders become involved, i.e., an inspector, participants will be invited to join the Dialogue.

Joining a Dialogue will automatically provide participants with read only permissions for the associated Data Shares and access to a complete and up-to-date communications trail, including access to any Hub Reports that have been assigned to the Dialogue.

Supporting an industry working together

SIRE 2.0 READY

With the biggest change to shipping’s risk assessment in decades now firmly on the horizon, Marine Data Hub is supporting stakeholders with a fully SIRE 2.0 ready document sharing platform.

Hub will support charterers and operators in cataloguing vessel information ready for submission to SIRE 2.0 Inspections.

The Hub SIRE 2.0 sync app has been developed to work directly with SIRE 2.0, allowing the required vessel documents, certificates and photographs to be pushed directly to SIRE 2.0.

Energy LEAP VERS compliant

Marine Data Hub is compliant with the 2023 Energy LEAP Standards.

To support Vessel Operators in the collection of the new emissions data standard, Hub supports real-time data collection and one-click submission of vessel emissions Voyage Log data. Through a centralised repository, data can be issued to the vessel operators’ management via the Marine Data Hub Web Portal, Web API or fillable PDF, to be forwarded on to Data Recipients.
