Marine Data Hub

Hub Data Applications

Integrating the end-to-end voyage supply chain

Hub is a selection of highly sophisticated applications supporting the secure and timely collection, storage and dissemination of shipping data.

Below outlines Hub’s key concepts and approach to data management :

Data Types
Data Ownership
Data Sharing
Relationship Management
Data Acccess

What Data is Supported by Hub?

Marine Data Hub facilitates the storage of vessel, terminal and associated voyage planning data.

The types of data supported by Hub include:

Documents

Vessel and terminal documents, (e.g., certificates) can uploaded to Hub and securely stored in preparation for a data share with another Hub user.

Vessels/Terminal Photos

Uploaded vessel photos are linked to its corresponding vessel for easy recall and identification. Linking a photo to its SIRE 2.0 photo types supports the SIRE 2.0 integration app.

Hub Reports

Hub facilitates the creation, population and dissemination of Hub Reports. Hub Reports are questionnaire-style data forms, able to model particulars, inspections and self-assessments, allowing templates to be defined and distributed to support data capture. The ability to pre-populate Hub Reports means data can be requested and received in a near real-time response (subject to Data Share permissions).

Voyage Logs

Through the Voyage Logs repository, compliant with the Vessel Emissions Reporting Standard (VERS), Hub supports real-time data collection and one-click submission of vessel emissions Voyage Log data.

Stakeholder interactions

Providing an audit ready communications trail, a Hub Dialogue facilitates the interactive message exchange between two or more participants. As further stakeholders become involved, (i.e., an inspector), participants may be invited to join an established Dialogue, automatically providing full voyage details and access to a complete and up-to-date communications trail.

Data Ownership

Within Hub, data is related to a vessel, terminal or company.

Data is created for these assets. Once created, the person submitting the data obtains the label of ‘Data Owner’. The Data Owner will retain full ownership of their data in Hub.

Data can then be shared with third parties (other Hub users) who request to view the data. This process of permitting a third party to view data is known in Hub as a ‘Data Share’.

A Data Share can only be created by the Data Owner.

Data Sharing

Once stored in Marine Data Hub, users can proactively request, share and view data through their Hub account.

The following applications support the secure and efficient sharing of marine data:

Data Share

A Data Share is set up by a Data Owner. Data Shares can be permitted based on a subset of criteria, such as data type and/or document type. Data Shares can also be subject to a set period of time. Once a Data Share has expired, a Data Recipient’s access to the data will be removed.

Data Request

Hub users can request information from other Hub users through a Hub Reports. Hub Reports are flexible forms, allowing templates to be defined and distributed to facilitate data capture, supporting efficient data collection, decision-making and voyage planning progression.

Dialogues

A Hub Dialogues represent a conversation between multiple different stakeholders. It provides a tool by which data and/or messages are exchanged.

Once a voyage/contract has been completed, all data will remain the property of the Data Owner. However read only access to Hub Reports generated through the Dialogue will remain available for record to all Dialogue participants.

Relationship Management

Asset records and relationships within Hub are automatically aggregated via a range of industry sources, with an identification scheme ensuring consistency across terminals and terminal operators records.

Existing schemes such as IMO are used where available.

Data Access

Hub users have access to the feature-rich Hub platform through a choice of integration options:

The Hub Portal

Providing a cloud-based repository of industry data through a security encrypted web service.

The Hub API

Offering deep integration and automation with existing enterprise systems, such as vetting, chartering and terminal Operations systems.

Through a vetting system API, participants have the option to activate an automated review and approval process for Hub Reports.
